We are a raiding guild focused on having fun and making the most of the game. We are focused on raid progression, but many of us have real life responsibilities. As such, we cater to the players that have deep knowledge of their class and can perform well at it and are focused on accomplishing more in less time with quality over quantity. We of SOI will never give someone a hard time because thay have a real life commitment to attend to. However, all raiding members of SOI are expected to perform and adhere to our raiding standards and guidelines when they are able to raid. SOI is currently a guild of all ages whos members are easy going and keen to explore and experience many aspects of the game. This includes raiding, questing, tradeskilling, exploring, and everything else in between.

Blizzard launches real money in-game pet store

In a surprising and stunning move, Blizzard has just launched a real money online in-game pet store. You spend real money, you get an in-game pet. This fully brings Blizzard into the world of microtransactions -- even if the cost of $10 for one of these pets isn't exactly micro.

While these are just vanity items, one has to wonder how far Blizzard can take this microtransaction model with the largest MMORPG game being played today. They already offer (and offer quite successfully) realm transfer, name change, character re-customization, and race and faction change services. This appears to be the next logical step for them to take. Could the next offering being in-game vanity outfits? A valid question that only time will answer.

The first offerings of microtransactionable in-game items include a Pandaren Monk pet and a Lil K'T pet. Half the proceeds from every Pandaren Monk pet (and only the Pandaren Monk) will go towards the Make-a-Wish foundation -- which is a nice gesture to a company Blizzard has previously supported.

Breaking News - Battle.net Conversions

In 30 days, on November 11, 2009, all accounts must be converted into a Battle.net account to login to World of Warcraft. Any existing account that upgrades to the Battle.net platform, including the ones that were upgraded in the past, will receive a brand new in-game penguin pet starting later this week.
