Guild Rules Mission Statement Are you Ready to Raid? Raid Rules Guild Ranks Meet the GMs/Officers

Are you Ready to Raid?

We are a casual raiding guild that raids 2-4 nights a week, running 5 mans and Heroics the rest of the week. We are a guild founded on the basis of community, friendship, and trust, utilizing these foundations to progress in game and have fun. As far as end-game content is concerned, we aim to be a raid capable guild.

Raiding and Requirements 101

This is the first question new 80s must ask themselves. Most oftentimes, the answer is "no." Why is this? Raiding requires a higher set of gear and skill than normal 5 man instances.

Be Imba is a website is being utilized to gauge gear numbers as they relate to a PVE Raid aspect. The link for this site is also included on the section link on the left side of the homepage. Pull up your character and list your PVE Gear Score Number (it's just above the Gear-O-Meter). Gear Score for Naxx should be ~300. Sometimes we need a guideline to steer us with our characters as far as the question goes  "Is my gear good enough for raiding?" To NOTE: These numbers are unbuffed, and can be argued with.  If you have a question - holler.  They are not set in stone.

While SoI is a Casual Guild that is raiding... the raiding part takes dedication.

Are you ready to raid? This is the first question new 80s must ask themselves. Most oftentimes, the answer is "no." Why is this? Raiding requires a higher set of gear and skill than normal 5 man instances. To elaborate:

(1) Raiding is not the appropriate forum to learn how to play your class. When you enter a raid instance, you should know how to play your class not only theoretically, but also practically. If you're a tank, you should have had experience gaining (and keeping!) aggro as well as picking up lose mobs, etc. If you're a healer, you should be familiar with your form of healing, working with other healers, and managing healing threat. If you're a dpser / CCer, you should know how to manage your aggro while pumping maximum dps and keeping your CC target under control. If you are learning how to do this in a raid setting, then you are leaving yourself at a disadvantage and the team.

(2) Raiding requires a high level of gear. New 80s should spend the time gearing themselves up in 5 mans prior to coming to raid instances. It is unfair to the team as a whole to have undergeared team members in the raid. If you are unsure of your gear level, read further below for more detailed pointers. Undergeared team members are both a liability to themselves and the team. Undergeared team members are unable to perform their jobs adequately, which means encounters either take longer than they should (thus precluding the completion of a raid) or are unconquerable. Furthermore, it is unfair to the previous raiding teams who spent the time gearing themselves up to make progress to have to enter an instance carrying undergeared players. As a courtesy to yourself and your team, make sure your gear is where it needs to be to enter the instance.

(3) Not only is gear an important factor in raids but so are the enhancements placed on them. Have you spent the time making your gear the best it can be? Oftentimes the loot tables are stingy, and it can be a long time before you upgrade a piece of gear. Be sure to take the time to gather gems, enchants, armor kits, and healing / spell threads for your gear prior to entering the instance. In the end, these up-front cost will be less than the cost on constant repair bills from failed attempts or the consuming of more pots because encounters take longer since the raid is undergeared.

The red bar shows the estimated places where most of the gear upgrades may come from. The blue bar shows the estimated places where this character should perform well in its current gear.

WoW-Heroes is also a website being utilized to gauge gear/enchant numbers.  You will need to make sure your character has been cached recently to get a correct score.  It make some time as it pulls the info from the armory.  Gear Score for Ulduar is 2000.

The green part of the bar should be easy for you, yellow medium/hard where you should be focusing, and the red part of the line is something you need to work for.

To have fun we need to make sure that people can pull their own weight. Healers need to heal, tanks need to hold targets and aggro, and DPSers needs to hit hard and fast and not pull aggro.
